Driver Licensing
You may obtain or renew your driver’s license at any Department of Motor Vehicles substation.  The nearest DMV's to Newton are located on Geremonty Drive in Salem, NH or Rte. 125 in Epping NH. Their hours are 8:15 am to 4:15 p.m., Monday through Friday, and you may contact them at 893-9871(Salem) or 679-2111 (Epping) for more information. New residents to New Hampshire must surrender any out-of-state licenses at the time of application. You will also be required to show original or certified copy of your birth certificate and one of the following: social security card, passport, military id, baptismal certificate or marriage certificate.

Currently, the fee for a standard Operator License is $50.00. Additional fees are charged for Motorcycle and Commercial endorsements. Drivers under the age of eighteen (18) are required to complete a Driver Education Course, and show parental or guardian consent. Driver’s Licenses are valid for a term of five (5) years, expiring at midnight on the licensee's birthday.
