Programs and Activities
Eleanor Becotte of Kingston, NH visited the library to share her experiences from a recent trip to the Holy Land.  This program was sponsored by the Friends of the Gale Library and was well-attended.
The Read With Reilly program was held on Monday, June 16.  There will a short hiatus for awhile this summer and resume weekly meetings at the end of July.
Mrs. Mears visited the Memorial School to spread the word about upcoming events for the Summer Reading Program.
Reading programs for adults and children began on Monday, June 23.  This year’s “G’Day for Reading” was the 2008 New Hampshire summer reading theme for youngsters.  There were activities and events with an Australian flair!  “Hopping Good!” was geared for the adult reader.  Prizes were awarded to participants who met their reading goals, and weekly drawings were conducted.
A performance with Mr. Phil and Company was held at the Country Pond Fish and Game on July 9 at 6:30 p.m.  A power outage occurred just before the program began.  Lack of electricity did not deter this creative performer.  Mr. Phil continued on with his planned program much to the delight of the audience which numbered over 60 attendees.
The Teen Book Group did not meet this month.  The members will decide if they want to continue their monthly book reviews, or plan to get together for a Game Night instead.

Book Review Circle was held on Wednesday, June 18, at 10:30 a.m.  The group was treated to a special brunch the following week, June 25, at the home of member, Irene Giannatsis.  The event was lovely and enjoyed by all.
Cribbage Night was held each Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

2008 Summer Reading Program
A Kids, Books, and Arts (KBA) grant in the amount of $225 was received from the NH State Library, the Byrne Foundation, CHILIS, the Cogswell Benevolent Trust, and the NH Library Association.
Myra Suraci and her Art Room students decorated the J Room with an Australian theme.

Technology
Comcast updated our server from Adelphia.  I was able to receive internet service after resetting the modem.  Chris McCune of CGM Technologies was called to troubleshoot our firewall settings to allow Winnebago Spectrum usage.
Coastal Office Supply was called as the IBM Wheelwriter typewriter was not operating.  It was found that labels had become jammed and a cable had also been dislodged.  The unit is now operating efficiently.
E-mail addresses will be added into patrons’ records as another means to contact them with library information.

Building Maintenance
The front walkway gap was repaired by Road Agent, Michael Pivero and his road crew.
CertaPro Painting worked in the E-Room to repair and paint the ceiling and to paint the walls to match the hallway with yellow and blue colors.
This project was funded with monies that were donated by the Suraci Family.  A framed sign was placed in the E-Room to acknowledge their generosity.
Posting signs were purchased to inform patrons that loitering is not allowed on the premises.
Mello Disposal has moved the disposal unit temporarily to allow room to take the decaying maple tree down.  The wheels have been taken off for stability.
Tamarack Tree service removed the large sugar maple tree in the rear parking area.  The stump was ground and the wood chips will be spread over area.
A wooden slat was noticed to be missing on the ramp leading to the shed.
A volunteer from Family Mediation and Juvenile Services cleaned portions of the vinyl siding, and swept the walkways.

Friends of the Gale Library
The Friends met for their monthly meeting on Wednesday, June 11, at 7:00 p.m.
A Book and Bake Sale was held on Saturday, June 14, from 8:00 a.m-2:00 p.m.
Passes were generously purchased for an annual renewal to the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport, Maine; and a new acquisition to the Christa McAuliffe Planetarium in Concord, NH.

Professional Development
Work continues in a summer session class on Web Site Design at UMA.

State Library Report
