Programs and Activities
The annual First Graders’ Night program was once again well-attended. Youngsters were eager to receive and use their own library card. 54 people attended with 25 new cards, and 1 replacement issued. Cupcake and punch were served, and stickers given out to the new library patrons.
Storyhours were held each Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m.
Cribbage games were held weekly on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Read with Reilly sessions were held each Monday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
A Teen Advisory Meeting was held on Wednesday, September 23 at 3:00 p.m. The teens discussed plans for programming ideas for next month.
Book Review Circle resumed monthly meetings on Wednesday, September 16, at 10:30 a.m.
A new monthly newsletter has been designed to keep patrons informed on current materials, and events.
The Friends of the Gale Library
The Friends met on Tuesday, September 8, at 2:00 p.m. for their monthly meeting.
Mrs. Meserve, President of the Friends, planted mums under the message board on the front lawn. They add a nice touch of color.
A Frigidaire dehumidifier was purchased for the library to be placed in the basement. Mr. and Mrs. Landry installed the unit and made sure that it was operating correctly.
Staff Update
Mrs. Gaudet is back on staff in the position of a Children’s and Young Adult Librarian Assistant.
Library Volunteers
Mrs. Huddleston will not be volunteering over the winter months. She will be returning to volunteer in the spring.
Mrs. Gaudet has been volunteering in the Children’s Room each Tuesday morning to assist with the Storyhour program.
Technology Management
The Epson Stylus C62 Printer was no longer operable and has been discarded to recycling. Mrs. Fortin kindly donated a brand-new Epson R280 Photo Printer to be used in replacement.
CGM Technologies installed the new printer, set the unit as shared, and attached networked computers to the printer. Mr. McCune updated the Symantec anti-virus program as we were not receiving reports.
A free toner for the HP Laser Jet 6L printer was received from another library that was no longer using this model.
Facilities Management
Keane Fire and Safety performed an annual inspection of the three fire extinguishers. All units are in good working order.
Mr. Michael Cote returned to paint the processing room window.
Professional Development
Work continues in classes enrolled at the University of Maine at Augusta.
